Site Report of Kom Ombo

During my ANP455, Archaeology of Ancient Egypt, I conducted an in-depth research paper on the ancient temple of Kom Ombo. Firstly, this paper fosters a deep understanding of a culture other than my own by requiring extensive research and exploration of the Egyptian culture and history. This entails an exploration of religious beliefs, architectural practices, and religious beliefs held by some ancient Egyptians.

Secondly, the site report highlights and examines the cultural diversity evident at Kom Ombo. Situated in the Ptolemaic period the temple represents a unique combination of two different cultures, namely ancient Egyptian and Greco-Roman. Exploring and documenting the cultural influence elucidates the diverse nature of the Ptolemaic period, which further enriched my understanding of the historical and culturally contexts.

Another crucial skill developed through the writing of this site report is the ability to locate, extract, and evaluate data from multiple scholarly sources. In order to construct a thorough report, I had to gather information from a variety of sources including scholarly articles, books, historical records, and the information to identify any potential biases or limitations. This process not only hones research skills bit also cultivates critical thinking abilities.
